HIDE PAGE BUTTON

When using our website with a desktop computer then we have a HIDE PAGE button on the right-hand side.  If you click on this button then you will be taken immediately to Google's homepage.  Please note that this feature does not work on mobile or other devices.

If you are using a computer in a public place or somewhere where someone might see that you have visited this website you can use this button to hide what you are doing quickly.

You must remember, however, that someone can still click on the back button or your history to see which site you were visiting.  Therefore if you want to hide your visit to SAIL completely then you should close your browser and clear your internet history and cookies.

deleting browser history

When you visit websites your browser remembers lots of information.  It can remember which sites you have been to and what you have downloaded.  This is called internet history.

You might not want other people to see that you have been looking at this website and there are two steps you need to take to remove the information from your computer:

  1. Delete all cookies (a cookie is a piece of information which your computer and websites use to remember where you have been online)

  2. Clear your history

Please find some instructions below to help (depending on which browser you are using):

PrivateBrowsing

private browsing

Private browsing is when you tell your internet browser not to save any history, cookies or temporary files for one session. A session is the time you spend on a website each time you visit.

It is good to use if you want to visit any site in private but don't have the time, or often forget to delete your history afterwards. It covers your tracks whilst you browse instead of you having to delete everything afterwards.

If you want to download any files or create bookmarks while you are browsing privately, you should still make sure you clear your history as these could be still saved.

The majority of the browsers have keyboard shortcuts for opening in private browsing.  The relevant shortcuts and how to open in private browsing can be found below:
